Since its inception in the 1950s, Helvetica has become the most ubiquitous widely used typeface in the world today. Helvetica was designed in Switzerland by Max Miedinger with Eduard Hoffman. The Swiss have always been a leading nation in the graphic design field and the country has been a breeding ground for some of the most influential design ideas and movements.
Helvetica was designed to be a neutral typeface that was able to convey a message to the reader in a neutral tone without dominating and becoming the actual message in and of itself. For example anything set in Dearjoe is clearly begging to be read in an informal, personal voice, whereas anything set in Trajan is imbued with a sense of classical elegance. Read more

Last month saw Arena Design exhibiting at The Business Show Bristol, the south west's largest business show, which was held
at Leigh Park, Bristol. With over
100 exhibitors, almost 1000
visitors and a selection of seminars, it was a great day for networking and learning.
The underlying theme for this year's show was trading during the current difficult economnc conditions as well as how the planned government public spending review will affect businesses in the south west.
